About Us
The South African National Bird of Prey Centre and Wildlife Sanctuary is a registered non profit organization dedicated to the conservation of, not only South African raptors, but all raptors worldwide. With birds of prey being at the top of the food chain our concern includes all other life forms as well as the environment in which they live.
The Centre is not just a place but an ethos for raptor conservation. Our aim is to establish centres throughout South Africa and possibly even further afield.
We conserve raptors and cheetah with four main aims in mind, being Education, Rehabilitation, Captive Breeding and Research. Our organisation has been in existence since 1996 with all the members of the Oertal family sharing the knowledge, love and skill when it comes to working with birds of prey and cheetah. inspired by Trevor Oertel.
